We are seeking a visionary and experienced Technical Architect to lead the transformation of our software into a modern, cloud-based architecture. Working closely with our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a robust and scalable platform built on React, .NET, GraphQL, Apollo Federation, and hosted within Azure.
You will create and drive the technical roadmap, producing high quality designs and supporting the teams throughout to achieve your vision.
As Technical Architect, you will play a critical role in the future of the organisation, and so we are looking for a passionate leader who thrives on tackling complex technical challenges while taking the lead on architectural design, transformation and implementation.
What you will do:
Technical Vision and Leadership
- Define, drive, and document the technical vision, roadmap, and high-level specifications for all our applications against business goals and needs.
- Serve as the main point of technical expertise for engineers, team leads, department heads, and c-suite personnel alike.
- Select and implement appropriate technologies, frameworks, and patterns within the Azure cloud ecosystem, maintaining documentation and records for future reference.
Technical Design
- Author designs and blueprints for the engineering teams to implement and follow.
- Analyse, understand, and build documentation for the existing legacy system, including its functionalities, challenges, and limitations – sharing your documentation and plans with senior team members to plan for the future.
- Own the Technical Design Authority process, to ensure all high-level technical designs and proposals align with the overall IT strategy, standards, and business goals.
Best Practice
- Own the Architectural Repository, ensuring high quality and pragmatic documentation and records around decisions and patterns.
- Drive improvements in the Architectural governance processes, ensuring designs and decisions are recorded and communicated clearly.
- Set and document technical standards, and metrics to monitor them; mentoring and guiding engineering teams on these best practices.
Collaboration and Communication
- Ensuring best practices are documented and embedded and followed for scalability, maintainability, and performance in a .Net, React, GraphQL, and Apollo Federation ecosystem.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, supporting them through their implementation of your designs and ensuring their efforts align with the technical vision.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, clearly explaining technical decisions and project progress.
Essential Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of experience as a technical architect or senior developer, with a proven track record of successful architectural design and implementation.
- Significant experience in leading technical governance processes and producing high quality technical documentation.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills – the ability to articulate technical concepts and designs to stakeholders of all levels.
- Strong experience in setting and driving technical roadmaps and strategy.
- In-depth expertise in building microservices and n-tier architectures with .Net, React, and GraphQL
- Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and patterns, and Azure platform services.
- Proficient in at least one backend programming language (.NET preferred).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Desirable skills & experience
- Experience working with legacy code modernization projects.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience with IaC tools like Terraform or Azure Resource Manager.
- Experience in containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Python for data manipulation and analysis
